Step-by-Step Guide

Creating your first lesson pack takes about 10–15 minutes. Here's how:

1
Open the lesson editor — from your dashboard, click the "+ Create Custom Lesson" button.
2
Set the theme — give your lesson a name (e.g., "Animals," "Weather"), choose an emoji icon, and write a brief description.
3
Add vocabulary — add 6–10 words with images. During the lesson, students match images to words and earn stars.
4
Add spelling words — choose which vocabulary words become spelling exercises. Students see the image and type the word.
5
Add reading content — write a short passage using the theme vocabulary. Keep it level-appropriate (3–5 sentences for A1, a paragraph for A2).
6
Add flashcards — select words for flashcard review. Great as a warm-up or wind-down activity.
7
Add pronunciation — set up words or phrases for the student to say aloud. You provide real-time feedback as the teacher.
8
Add conversation prompts — write discussion questions related to the theme (e.g., "What's your favourite animal?" "Do you have a pet?").
9
Add grammar exercises — create fill-in-the-gap, word order, or choose-the-correct-word exercises using the theme vocabulary.
10
Save your lesson pack — click "Save Lesson" and it appears on your dashboard, ready to use.
💡 Tip: You don't need to fill in every activity type, just pick and choose what works for you and the current lesson. If you want to add more later, you can edit the lesson and add more activities at your convenience.
⚠️ Important — Local Storage: Your lesson packs are stored locally in your browser. They're available on the device where you created them, but won't automatically appear on other computers. We recommend downloading your packs regularly as a backup using the export/download button. Before app updates, we'll email you at least 7 days in advance so you can save your lessons.

Teaching with Gamilingo

Here's the flow for a typical lesson:

1
Choose a lesson pack — from your dashboard, click on the pack you want to use. You'll see the lesson hub with the treasure chest and all available activities.
2
Share your screen — on your video call (Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, etc.), share the browser window so your student can see the app.
3
Introduce the treasure chest — show the student the progress bar and explain: "We're going to earn stars today! If we collect enough, we unlock the treasure chest."
4
Work through activities — click on each activity type. A natural order is: Vocabulary → Spelling → Grammar → Reading → Conversation. But feel free to mix it up based on your student's mood and level.
5
Earn stars along the way — each activity awards up to 3 stars based on performance. Celebrate each one: "Great job! Another star!"
6
Unlock the treasure chest — when enough stars are collected, the chest unlocks with a satisfying animation. This is the moment kids remember!
7
Review results — after the lesson, check the student's profile to see their scores. Share progress with parents to encourage rebooking.
💡 Tip: Talk around the activities! Ask follow-up questions, discuss the images, make jokes. The app should complement your lessons, not replace it. The magic happens in the conversation between activities.

📦 How to Import a Lesson Pack

Using Ready-Made Packs

As a subscriber, you receive new themed lesson packs every week. Here's how to import them:

1
Download the pack file — you'll receive the lesson pack file (JSON format) via email or through your membership area.
2
Click "Import Pack" — on your Lesson Packs dashboard, click the "Import Pack" button.
3
Select the file — choose the downloaded JSON file from your computer.
4
Start teaching — the pack appears on your dashboard, ready to use immediately. No editing needed (though you can customise it if you want).
💡 Tip: This is also how you transfer your own lessons between devices. Download a pack from one computer, then import it on another.
